How does SCRAP work?
SCRAP’s depot acts as a clearinghouse for discarded materials that can be reused in art or in the classroom. Local businesses, artists, and individuals donate materials to SCRAP; we sort them and and make them available at low cost. SCRAP also offers low-cost arts workshops bi-monthly, fieldtrips for school children, and art activities at community events.
Where is SCRAP located?
Our address is 801 Toland St., but enter the warehouse on Newcomb Ave, between Toland and Selby. You can find a map and directions to us here.
When is SCRAP open?
Tuesday through Saturday, from 9am to 5pm.
Who can come to SCRAP?
Everyone. The warehouse is open to the public.
I’m a teacher. Is there anything I should know about SCRAP?
There are always a variety of materials at the depot that can inspire your next classroom projects. We have an annual teacher give-away in the fall when teachers can get a wide selection of free materials for use in their classrooms. Our low-cost workshops offer a range of ideas for projects using re-useable materials; many of these can be tailored for the classroom.
Who can donate materials?
Anyone can donate. No donation is too small. Check here for information on how to donate and what SCRAP accepts.
What can I donate?
Most clean, reusable materials that can be used in art or educational projects. See the extensive material list to see if your items are acceptable. Don’t see it on the list? Call us at 415-647-1746 or email
outreach@scrap-sf.org with questions. SCRAP also depends of monetary donations to continue to offer our programs to the community—free material pick-ups, low-cost workshops, field trips, and more. Please make a donation today!
How do I donate materials?
For large donations (six or more boxes), SCRAP offers a free pick-up service. Donations can also be dropped off at the warehouse anytime during our business hours. Check the list of items SCRAP accepts, and call or email ahead with any questions.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes. SCRAP is a 501 c3 non-profit organization. We provide a tax-deductible receipt for the fair market value of your goods.
What about the cats?
