SCRAP Workshop: ReFrame It! w/ Francisco Hernandez

Re-Frame It! w/ Francisco Hernandez
Saturday, April 28th 10am – 4pm fee: $60

In this full-day workshop artist and teacher Francisco Hernandez will lead participants in the creation of Joseph Cornell-inspired boxed or framed assemblages using found objects and treasures from SCRAP. Particpants will learn how to reshape or resize a frame, or add divisions to a box, to use as a base in creating a mixed media diorama. Participants will explore how the context of ordinary objects changes by placing them within an inspired frame or box and investigate how to bring disparate elements together to create a personally meaningful tableau. Everyone will leave with a completed sculptural piece. No special skills are required, but definitely bring your imagination!

About Francisco

Francisco Hernandez is a 5th-grade teacher, boat-builder, sculptor, and frequent SCRAP shopper. His students have created model bridges, buildings, windmills, and dams using SCRAP materials, and he spent a recent weekend building a coop for three rescued chickens. Francisco loves that at SCRAP “there’s a whole lot of material inspiration under one roof!”.
