SCRAP Workshop: SCRAP Animals w/ Courtney Cerruti
Saturday, March 24th, 10am-4pm fee: $60
Join us in welcoming back artist Courtney Cerruti for this all-day workshop of fun to create one-of-a-kind assemblage animals. Courtney will show participants how to fashion an armature and sculpt animal forms out of paper maché. Then embellish them with wacky and fun findings from within the depths of SCRAP. Use papers, metals, woods, fabrics and ephemera of all sorts to create your own unique animal, real or imagined! This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced students.
About Courtney
Courtney Cerruti is a maker extraordinaire. From doing window displays for Anthropologie to wedding installations, to teaching workshops throughout the Bay Area and abroad, Courtney sees everyday materials as potential art. For Courtney, books are objects to be read and re-purposed, candy wrappers are paper flower petals, and toilet paper tubes are a menagerie of animals…
Using everyday materials she creates unique and precious objects that tell a story. Her most recent body of work is Animal Anomalies, is a collection of life-sized misfit paper animals made from recycled and found papers and books and can be seen at Paxton Gate in the Mission. Check out more of her work on her website, www.ccerruti.com
