March 2nd: Fiendish Flexagons
presented by Cathy Miranker
Learn to make a fascinating structure called a flexagon, so named because it flexes and unfolds to reveal four faces. It uses just one piece of paper, and we’ll use many sizes for practice and with varying content, all using SCRAP materials. The flexagon is great for poetry, for displaying paired pictures and text, calendars and more. The final project will be making calendars.
Ever since Cathy discovered bookmaking she has been both a voracious student and a busy teacher. She pioneered Youth Programs for the San Francisco Center for the Book and secured funding to for book arts education in the San Francisco public schools.
