Resources for Teachers
Our Partnership with SFUSD
SCRAP is very proud to be a partner of SFUSD: teachers, students, parents, and families are at the heart of our mission.
46 years ago, SCRAP was founded by the SF Arts Commission in partnership with SFUSD to provide teaching artists and teachers in the school district with affordable art supplies that would otherwise be discarded as waste. Today, we continue to provide supplies and programs that benefit and enhance the SFUSD community.
Free Monthly Teacher Giveaways
(On Hold Due to Covid) SCRAP’s monthly Free Teacher Giveaways occurs on the second Saturday of each month during the school year. While the materials available may vary from month to month, we prioritize providing free school supplies as well as educational games and arts & crafts projects for classrooms. Every year, we also host a giveaway event for all Bay Area teachers in August.
Class Field Trips
(On Hold Due to Covid) Field trips include a guided tour of our SCRAP Depot, where donated items are given a new life, and discussion of what “creative reuse” means. Students then can get involved with SCRAP Depot tasks and participate in the creation of individual artworks using repurposed materials. To inquire, please review our policies and costs and fill out our form here.

Free Monthly Teacher Workshops
(On Hold Due to Covid) Our free teacher workshops take place at SCRAP from October to May, in conjunction with our Free Teacher Giveaways. Projects provided for teachers at these workshops aim to support core curriculum topics in math, science, and culture.
Creative Reuse Community Workshops
SCRAP offers creative reuse workshops for parents, teachers, artists and the community at large, all taught by well-respected artists. Find a list of our upcoming community workshops in our calendar of events.
Compensation for Teacher Development
When attending either Community Workshops or Teacher Workshops, SFUSD teachers will receive a certificate of attendance to be used to receive compensation funded by Proposition G.
