It's time to SPRING UP to High Value Donations!

Dear Friend,

I’m writing to you, a member of our beloved SCRAP community, to ask for your support in helping us transform your once cherished high value items into funding to support our Depot operations and Community Arts Education programming.  There are many ways to raise funds, but what I am asking you to do this Spring is to reach into your fine collectibles closet, jewelry box, attic,or storage unit for higher-end art, jewelry, and collectables to donate to SCRAP.  

When I asked Maida, one of our material donors, why she decided to donate her jewelry, art, and beautiful textiles she said:

“Living a long life means gathering a lot of stuff. Lucky us. Treasures accumulate and don’t receive the love, attention, or honor they deserve. We loved them dearly… but they rest in the dark corners and drawers. As the days pass and tastes change, there comes a time to pass things along to others who will give them loving care and hopefully appreciate them as we once did. Donating to SCRAP insures that any monetary value of these objects will be put towards wondrous and creative endeavors.”

Our relationships with several auction houses in the Bay Area, our EBay store and our specialty sales mean that SCRAP can quickly transform your precious items into funding while your treasured items will: 

• Be cherished in their next life

• Not end up in landfill 

• Clear up much needed space

• Support your favorite nonprofit

• Create arts accessibility and arts education for those in our community that need it the most!

So this year, while you are wondering what to do with art, jewelry, and collectibles that are put aside but not desired by friends and family, think about SCRAP!

The Fine Print

Our desire is for all items donated to have an approximate value of $500+ at auction, but I know that isn’t always easy to estimate. Please send me pictures and if we can’t sell at auction, we have our eBay store, speciality sales and our depot’s gallery wall to ensure minimal damage and maximum return from those precious items.

Here are examples of high value donations that we are able to transform into funding for community programs:

• Gold/Platinum jewelry

• Sterling silver flatware and serving pieces (silver plate has little value)

• Designer accessories

• Works of art where the artist has an auction history of at least $500 to include paintings, prints, sculpture, textile art

• Unique textiles: Most things that have been handmade

• Antique Chinese/Asian items – silk robe, shawls, porcelain

• Antique American Indian items – jewelry, clothing, etc.

• Just about anything rare & unique
