1. All donations will be carefully screened
Our on-site intake staff will have final discretion of donation items. Even if your donation has been approved by email, our intake team may reject your donation if it is smelly, broke, or misrepresented via images (e.g unusable condition, messiness, etc).2. Always check in your donation with our on-site staff
Do not leave your donation without checking in.You must check-in your donation with our onsite intake staff. Please be patient if they are not available right away. Dumping is illegal.3. Please keep it nice and neat
To help our intake team do their best job, we ask that you organize your items. Donations should be itemized by our acceptable categories. Messy donations will be rejected.
Donation Times
We accept donations Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM - 3 PM. Our address is 2150 Newcomb Ave, SF 94124.
Small Donations
Donations up to 2 bags or boxes can be dropped without an appointment.
- Boxes can be up 21"x 15" x 16" (standard moving box). Donations can be brought in plastic containers in good condition with a lid.
- Bags can be as large a big Ikea bag.
Large Donations
Donations over 2 boxes must set up an appointment via email. Please send a list of your items and images to donate@scrap-sf.org. You will receive a response within 3 days. If you have not received a reply, please call (415) 647-1746 and ask to speak with a manager regarding your items.
Pick up Options
Pick-up is available within San Francisco for free. For pick-ups outside of San Francisco, we charge a pick-up fee depending on distance. You must have at least 6 banker's boxes for pick-up.

After submitting the form, our driver will give you a call within 1-3 business days.

Do you have higher value items, but thought they were too fancy for SCRAP? We'll take them!

High Value donations are valuable sources of revenue that support our staff's wages and operational costs. SCRAP works with auction houses and online sales channels to handle these items such as these. If you have such items, please email Terry@scrap-sf.org
Unacceptable Donations
Toxic or biohazardous materials (Asbestos, acids, antifreeze, ballasts, batteries of any kind, fire extinguishers, fluorescent cfls, fluorescent bulbs, gas tanks, helium, mercury, motor oil, oxidizers, poisons, propane, ink sludge, industrial solvents, any unknown liquids)
Large furniture or objects (Ex. drafting tables, desks, lamps, umbrella holders, industrial machinery, luggage, bicycles, hat stands, tires, stands)Unidentified powders and liquids
Used personal items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotions, body oils, nail extensions, etc)
Rusty blades
Smelly items
Dirty, wet or leaking items
Auto parts
Plastic or metal desk organizers/trays (except art containers)
Wood with nails
Tile larger than 1"x1"
Binders
Hanging file folders
Clothing
Broken or dirty plastic
Kitchen items

Majority of items listed above cannot be recycled and cost SCRAP money to dispose of. Please respect our list. If we can’t take your donation we will do our best to refer to you to an organization that can. We have a list of other recycling resources for you to divert your items to below.
Final discretion of items will be made at our donations counter by our staff. We reserve the right to refuse donations if we believe they are smelly, broken, or feel that they have been misrepresented via images. Thank you for understanding!
